On Sunday 11th December our centre closes for modernisation and refurbishment work. Subject to final funding being raised, the building works will be carried out next year when the pool will be fully refurbished, new changing rooms will be built, and a new state-of-the-art gym will be constructed at first-floor level.
We are seeking the use of local pools to continue to operate our swimming lesson programme and we will be keeping all parents informed over the next few weeks of where these lessons will take place. We want to keep all the swimming programmes going and keep our swimming instructors employed.
In December we are submitting an application to Sport Employment to "Sportsmatch" to top up the £1M fund already earmarked for the project. This money is being released as part of the legacy fund associated with the Olympics in 2012. If successful this additional money will be used to extend the pool from 4 lanes to 6 lanes, and increase the spectator viewing accomodation. We will also construct a Day Spa with spa pool and wet side facilities, together with six treatments rooms.
Once completed, Troutbeck Bridge will have new regional-status training and exercise facilities for the future enjoyment of the whole community and relaxation facilities.
